Protected building
Kulttuuritalo was completed in 1958, near the center of Helsinki. It was designed as a multi-purpose building for the Communist Party of Finland. In addition to the concert hall, the building was intended to house spaces for diverse cultural activities. Furnished with Aalto-designed furniture and lighting, Kulttuuritalo, with its rich details, is protected by heritage conservation law. The 2013 renovation of Kulttuuritalo was included as an exemplary project in Finland's Architecture Biennale.
Kulttuuritalo continues to operate as an active event venue. Today, the building hosts more than 350 public and corporate events each year. In addition, the venue’s own restaurant serves customers at lunchtime and on event evenings.
